When Its Over, Its Over

Okay guys I am really looking forward to Arthur and Gwen being reunited and happily in love all over again. That said I'm kinda' of glad that Guinevere is out on her own and I wish this show had time to develop a storyline where Guinevere is away from Camelot from anywhere from 3 months to 1 year doing things on her own, learning to live by her ( Read more... )

I hope for that too! I hope they show us a little bit of what Gwen's been up to, how she has grown and processed what happened to her. This could be an opportunity that could really shape her to make her an even more awesome and wise queen. I also see it as a perfect opportunity to develop her more as the foil to Morganna.

While Morganna had some reasons to be angry with Uther, I really think she went off the deep end. As Annis said, she is consumed by anger and bitterness. She did not grow or mature from what happened to her---instead she let her anger fester and ferment into a darkness that borders on madness. (And I am talking before her poisoning by Merlin and her year with Morgause--she plotted to kill her father (then thought to be foster father) and harm her friends before her year with Morgause.) I mean, home-girl spends all day staring angrily into the fire at her little hovel salivating over someone else's throne. She could be knitting or doing some recreational painting, but no, she broods all freaking day.

Then we have Gwen, who had legitimate reasons to be angry and seek revenge. Gwen who turns the other cheek. Gwen who nurses and is kind to the man that killed her father and tried to burn her as a witch twice. Yes, she did it for Arthur, but she was still kind and gentle with Uther.

I hope that some time passes and we see Gwen who has grown and matured--moved through her hurt and anger to become even wiser and more awesome. The kind of person that can hold her loved ones accountable when they do wrong by her but who can also forgive and move on.

So I had no idea that everyone's comments were screened sorry bit of a dingbat with LJ.

Yeah this probably bugs me more than anything about Gwen's character. She can express disappointment in people and did in Season 2, but she's become the most saintly person on Merlin and saints still sin.
