The snowfall was their shelter.
Near the river bend, behind the trees, Gwaine felt safe enough under the cover of steady falling snow to reach for Leon, pulling him down for a kiss. Leon hesitated, briefly calling for caution before his hands came up to Gwaine's face, drawing him in closer as they indulged in the intimacy denied by the week long patrol.
The snow fell over them, muting the sound of rustling chainmail and hushed voices.
It began to cover their cloaks and tracks.
It hid them from all, save for the king who had located his wayward knights.
