Summary: When Merlin gets ready to go to the next ball he’s invited to, he’s in for a surprise.
Notes: This is a sequel to Last Dance I don’t know if it makes sense if you haven’t read that one.

Of course they’d ended up in a bed again after the dance. Merlin stretched as he woke up, he knew Arthur would be gone before he opened his eyes. Maybe that was just what they were. They met, danced around each other, satisfied their needs and then drifted apart again.

He took a shower and put his rumpled clothes back on, leaving the hotel with a blush burning high on his cheeks when the concierge threw him a pointed look that made him feel like a cheap whore.

When the next invite to a ball came, Merlin pondered not going. He didn’t belong there. Just because his father had rescued some distant relative of one of the most influential men in the country from the attack of some magical creatures didn’t mean he belonged to their circles. They probably hoped he wouldn’t show and only invited him out of sheer politeness.

But it was a chance to see Arthur again. Merlin tried to convince himself that he would just take one look at him and then leave. To detox or something. This evening wouldn’t end with sex, as fantastic as it was.

As Merlin walked down the stairs, still straightening his new bow tie, a little spring in his step, he pondered if it was appropriate to take the tube to the location or if he had to invest in a taxi. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw a limousine in front of his house, the driver holding the door open.

He hadn’t ordered this, he couldn’t afford it, but the driver made a gesture that made it clear that he wanted him to get into the car. What was going on? Was he being kidnapped by the mob? He still had powerful magic abilities, but nobody knew about that.

Uncertainly, he climbed into the car and his eyes went wide when he saw the other occupant of the back seat.

“Good evening, Merlin.”
