Author’s Note: There was more background story to this, but decided this could do without my angst.
Gwaine cornered Merlin at their work function after they had both had a few drinks.
“What to dance?” he asked, hand extended for Merlin to take.
“Err… no thanks,” replied Merlin, knowing that close proximity to Gwaine while intoxicated was not a wise decision.
“Oh, come on,” Gwaine urged. “It’s only a bit of fun. Live a little.”
“No, really Gwaine, I’m fine staying right here.”
That was when Gwaine closed the small gap which had been between them. “Stop pretending you don’t want to,” he whispered. “I know you do. I can see it. I can hear it and I can feel it.”
Merlin just shook his head. Gwaine eyed him as the music changed to something more familiar to Merlin and his foot started to move to its rhythm, involuntarily.
Of course, Gwaine noticed this and a broad grin spread across his face. “See!” he exclaimed over the louder music.
Merlin rolled his eyes at his friend. “Oh, alright,” he conceded, allowing himself to be pulled onto the dance floor by an overly enthusiastic Gwaine.
