Gwen woke, shaking her head. She couldn’t remember how she came to be unconscious, but she did remember a face. Morgana. Where was the witch and where was this place? It was a completely darkened room-no light showed anywhere.
Just when Gwen was about to cry out, a rectangle of light appeared in the near distance. A figure stepped through the doorway and the door shut behind her. But the woman brought light with her in the form of a torch. “Hello, Gwen,” said a familiar voice.
“Morgana . . . oh my gosh, Morgana, you look wonderful! Is that a new dress? So stylish!” Gwen replied.
“Why yes, it is. Black lace is so in for all the high priestesses of the Triple Goddess. And can we talk about your dress? Purple satin, right? You’ve certainly come up in the world.”
“Yes, satin. But this is just a riding dress. You should see my closets.”
“Closets? As in more than one? Gwen, you outshine even me.” Morgana winked.
“Oh, I could never. But let me just say it’s good to be the queen . . .”
