Darkness (Part 3)
Merlin stood in the early morning shower waiting for Arthur. They were on the way to the Northern Border.
The patrol found several farms and a village burned to the ground. There was no sign of Lot’s or Cenred’s men. Knights from the patrol whispered rumors of magickal forces at work.
Arthur came down the steps pulling on his gloves. He mounted his horse and started riding to the gates.
The knights followed with confused looks on their faces.
Merlin mounted and caught up with Arthur. “Did you have an argument with someone?”
“Shut up, Merlin.” Arthur glared at him. “My love life is not your business.”
“I thought you had an argument with Leon.” Merlin grinned. “So Gwen is not happy with you? Just agree with her.”
Arthur held up his hand. “Not today, Merlin. We have bigger problems. There is a sorcerer on the loose.”
“Morgana or Morgause?” Merlin asked.
“Maybe one or both. Maybe someone else. I know not.” Arthur sighed. “It better not be another bloody dragon.”
Merlin winced.
Near the Northern Border, Morgana sat on her horse staring at the destruction. “Who could have done this?”
Morgause shook her head. “I do not know, Sister. There is strong magick at work here.”
“Emrys…” Morgana shifted on her horse.
Morgause looked at her. “We need to leave. The patrol from Camelot will be returning.” She turned her horse back to the trail.
Morgana took one last look and followed her.
