“Autumn is definitely my favorite season,” Morgana said as they passed another booth selling orange, white, and green pumpkins.
“What makes it your favorite season?” Merlin asked.
“The crisp air, the sound of the leaves as they crunch under my feet, the colors, pumpkin spice, apple cider, and markets like this one. So many lovely things to buy.” She nodded her head at a booth selling handmade jewelry. “Let’s go over to that one.”
Merlin rolled his eyes and Morgana punched his shoulder, but they did go over to the jewelry booth, where Morgana “oohed” and “ahhed” over the treasures. After she bought a couple pieces, they were off again to a booth selling hot apple cider.
Forty-five minutes later, Merlin shook his head. They must have stopped at every booth. “It’s a good thing your father is rich,” he said as she handed him another bag to carry.
“Yeah, it feels good to charge this all to the old man’s account,” Morgana replied. She looked at him and sighed. “You look tired.”
“I’m carrying five bags in each hand, so yeah, I’m a little tired. Can we go now?”
“Yes, we can go. But there’s another market in the next village next weekend. Will you be up for that?”
Merlin smiled. “Of course. I love spending time with you, any way I can.”
She threw her arms around him. “Thank you.”
“Anything for the one I love.”
“Aww, I love you too.” She took the bags from one of his hands and took his now-free hand with her free hand. “Let’s go.”
“I’m glad you could make a dent in their local economy.”
“Me too. Thanks for coming with me.”
“Anytime.”
