Merlin settled the wig a bit straighter on his head. It was heavy. "How do women wear all of this hair?" he wondered aloud.
"They put it up in braids. That's how my mum used to wear hers." Leon was flipping through one of Merlin's fantasy novels on the couch. His costume had been easy. All he had to do was dig out the old Pendragon surcoat Merlin had protected magically all of these years. He had never given up his armor and still used it for practice on a rare occasion, so it had been easy to find, too.
"Morgana wore it down. I remember that."
Leon snorted. "Morgana was dramatic. And honestly, do you think a little thing like an inconvenient headache from hair being too heavy would have stopped her from doing what she wanted?"
Merlin chuckled. "Fair point." He touched up his lipstick and smiled at himself in the mirror. "There. Done."
Leon stood and joined him in front of the mirror. "A lady and her knight. I still think we should have gone to the masquerade as Merlin and Arthur. I really wanted to wear those purple robes with the stars we saw all over them. That, and it would have given me the excuse to carry my magic wand."
"I still think you got the wrong Weasley's wand. You should have bought Molly's wand, not George's."
"Yes, yes. I was the mum friend. Whatever. You're just lucky I didn't buy Bellatrix' wand. Now, that one is cool-looking."
Merlin gave Leon a one-armed hug. "You're ridiculous."
"Merlin, I hate to tell you, but you're the one dressed in a form-fitting gown with those freaky stick-on chicken cutlet things shoved down the front to give you cleavage and a pair of padded pants to give you an actual ass. Who's really ridiculous here?"
