“You can’t imprison us! We’ll fight back!” Merlin yelled at the spider-sorceress who’d captured him and Arthur.”
“Brilliant, Merlin. We have already been captured,” Arthur replied. Indeed, they were fastened to the wall of the cave with her sticky webs.
“Not for long,” Merlin said. He whispered a sleeping spell and soon Arthur was out like a light. “Now as for you . . .” He said a few more words and he was free of the webs.
The spider-sorceress shot more webbing at him, but Merlin deflected it with a wave of his hand. “You’ll regret capturing us,” he said.
She opened her mouth to speak, but Merlin silenced her with a word. With another word, he bound her arms and legs to her body. She fell to the floor and stared up at her captor. “You will trouble the people of this land no more.” The same bolt of energy that had destroyed Nimue shot from his hand. The spider-sorceress tore into a million pieces and disintegrated.
Grinning, he turned back to Arthur, and caught him as he fell from the severed webs. He patted Arthur’s cheek a few times to wake him. “Arthur. Arthur! Wake up!”
“What? Who? I’ll get you, you fiend!” Arthur yelled.
“Arthur. She’s dead.”
“Dead? How?”
“A mysterious sorcerer appeared and took her out. No more spider-sorceress.”
Arthur grinned. “Well, that’s a relief. I would thank the sorcerer before running him through.”
“Arthur.”
“You really believe there’s a sorcerer roaming the land, doing good, don’t you?”
“Yes I do. I saw him with my own eyes. Now, can we go home?”
“Definitely.” Arthur stood and helped Merlin up. Together they walked back to Camelot with one crazy story to tell.
