A/N: I keep piling on poor Merlin lately.
“Did you enjoy yourself, Merlin?” Arthur stood at the end of the rough-hewn bed Merlin had collapsed into about an hour ago.
“Hnh?” There was no way Merlin could string two words together and come out with anything coherent. The witch he’d fought for almost half an hour had been too strong and had gotten a few good magical blows in. That was after it took him half the night just to find her hidey-hole.
Arthur looked unimpressed with his manservant’s clever repartee. “I hope you had fun at the tavern because you're going to be mucking out the stables for the next three days. Oh, and you get to spend some quality time with the hounds. They do love you so much.”
Arthur spun around and stalked out before Merlin could catch up with what he’d said. Once he did, Merlin just glared at the door and laid down again. Fine, next time he’d just let the witch fry the Pendragons. Right now he was getting some sleep.
