Merlin schlepped himself to the house from the car. He opened the front door and stepped inside, glad to be home. He heard music playing and turned to see Morgana dancing with Ellie in the living room. He smiled and dropped his bag as he closed the door.
Morgana turned at the sound and looked at Merlin. “Oh my goodness. You had a bad day, didn’t you? Come sit down and tell me about it.”
Merlin nodded and made his way to the sofa, sagging down onto it. Morgana sat close by. “I don’t know if it was a bad day, but it was mentally tough, and that makes me weary inside and out.”
“I know how that feels.”
“I know you do, thanks.”
Morgana grinned. “I know what you need to brighten your day.” She thrust the smiling baby toward him. “Baby cuddles!”
A slow smile spread over Merlin’s face. “I think you may be right,” Merlin said as he took Ellie from Morgana and held her close.
Morgana watched as the tension eased from Merlin’s shoulders. Baby cuddles were exactly what he needed. “You’re already relaxing.”
“You were so right. I needed this. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. My arms needed a break anyway. Just take all the time you need. She’s in a good mood today.”
“A sweet end to a bad day. I could get used to this.”
Morgana curled up close to Merlin and laid her head on Merlin’s shoulder. “Me too.”
