Morgana woke to the delightful smell of bacon. “Mmm,” she said as she sat up in bed. After getting dressed, she padded into the kitchen and found Merlin at work on breakfast, including that sizzling bacon. “What prompted all this?” she asked him.
“It’s just because I love you,” he replied, pecking her on the cheek.
Morgana glanced around the kitchen. In addition to the bacon, there were scrambled eggs, pancakes, orange juice, and a container of her favorite yogurt. “You really went all out.”
“Well, you’ve been working pretty hard lately, and I wanted to celebrate your first day off in a long time.”
Morgana embraced him. “Thank you. It all looks delicious.”
“I hope you’re hungry.” Merlin grinned.
“Famished. Let’s eat. And I may just have to figure out a way to work off all these calories I’m about to consume.”
Merlin’s eyebrow rose. “Oh? I may know of such a way.” He bent down and kissed her soundly.
She pushed him away gently and laughed. “After breakfast.”
He handed her a plate. “After you, my lady.”
