Summary: Arthur is his rude entitled self. And then there’s Merlin

Arthur frowned. How could this idiot just step in his way while he was folding his umbrella and stepping into the building? “Hey! Maybe you can watch where you’re going!” He growled and pushed into the building.
Which idiot had left their mug under the coffee maker in the break room? Arthur hated when people just pushed the button and walked away. He didn’t want to touch someone else’s smudgy coffee mug, but he had waited long enough. “Hey! Who left their mug here? Maybe you can remove it in a timely manner for others to be able to get coffee as well?” His eyes turned into slits when the same man who had run into him just the other day entered the room, phone still at his ear, grabbing the coffee, throwing him a small smile and then leaving.
Arthur sighed. Going to the cafeteria himself had been a bad idea, he should have sent someone. But he wanted to get away from his desk for a moment and this was the first thing that came to mind. Didn’t the employees go to the cafeteria to get a little break? Well, now he was stuck standing in line, holding one of those ridiculous little trays to put his purchase on. If he purchased anything at all. He wasn’t even close to the counter, so he didn’t see what they offered here. “Hey! Maybe you could decide what you want or step out of the way? Other people need to go back to their jobs.” This idiot was taking forever, chitchatting and being unable to know what they wanted. Some heads turned, but the only one he registered was the one from the bloke holding up the line. It was the idiot with the umbrella and the coffee mug.
They had a few more encounters of that kind and even though Arthur tried hard to forget about him, he didn’t quite manage. Dark hair, blue eyes and a bit too lazily dressed for Pendragon Corp. It was as if he ran into him everywhere he went. And he grew on him. They hadn’t spoken a word, but Arthur couldn’t get him out of his mind.
So when they ran into each other in a corridor, Arthur cleared his throat. “Hey, listen…if you have the time…how about a coffee?”
Merlin, as Arthur had found out stal…doing some research on the company’s internal web, looked at him with wide eyes and then started to chuckle.
“What’s so funny?”
Shifting the stack of papers he was holding a bit, Merlin grew serious again. “Hey! Maybe…if you watch your tone of voice a bit better and be a little friendlier to your co-workers from now on, I might consider having a coffee with you.”
Arthur blinked. “Wha….what?”
“You heard me.” Merlin started walking into the other direction.
“What does that even mean?”
Merlin was about to round a corner and looked back. “Think about it. I’m sure you will figure it out eventually. Maybe.” He grinned, winked and then was gone.
