Author's Notes: My first fic on here in months had to be a continuation of my Immortality is Overrated series, of course.
It took Arthur a week to notice. At first he chalked up the little things to long-term familiarity. Merlin would hand Leon tea without questioning how to fix it. Leon would throw an afghan over the warlock sleeping on the couch as Leon walked from room to room. Merlin wordlessly gave Leon the business section of the newspaper while he picked up a pen to do the puzzle page.
It was when he noticed the small touches that things started to add up. As Merlin handed Leon his tea, their hands glided over each other’s. Leon smoothed Merlin’s hair lightly when he tucked the afghan around Merlin. The smile Leon gave Merlin as they swapped pieces of the newspaper was just a touch too adoring.
“You two are a couple.” Arthur stated it at breakfast one morning and watched both of their cheeks blush a charming shade of pink.
“We wanted to wait until you were better acclimated before we told you.” Leon shrugged.
Arthur grinned. “You know what, you two make sense together. Merlin needs a firm hand to keep from making mischief.”
Merlin’s cheeks turned scarlet and he ducked his head behind the paper he was reading, his response barely audible. “Leon has a firm hand, alright.”
