“Hello, beautiful,” Merlin whispered as he entered the hospital room. There she lay, asleep after the ravages of childbirth. She deserved this time to rest before the reality of new responsibilities set in.
She was definitely his summer sun, as the old song went. There was light and warmth in his life that hadn’t been there before he met her. He walked over to her bed and sat in the chair next to it. He took her hand lightly, reveling in its smoothness.
They were parents now. A new light had entered their lives, and with it, immense joy. He hoped they would be worthy of the task set before them.
