Standing at the bottom-length window of his huge house, Merlin wrapped his arms around himself as he watched Gwaine mount his motorbike in the driveway, shake his hair back and put his helmet on.
It was over. Gwaine made that clear. He’d had enough of living in a golden cage, couldn’t stand that Merlin put him on a pedestal.
So he stood and looked without seeing long after Gwaine drove out of his life.
Later, he paled when he opened the door, seeing two policemen in uniform standing in front of him. He hardly heard them informing him about the accident.
He knew he’d love Gwaine forever.
