Merlin and Morgana waved goodbye to Arthur, Gwen and Ellie as they drove away. They were going on their first date since Ellie was born, and they were so glad to be getting away for the night.
“So do you think you’re going to miss her?” Merlin asked Morgana.
“I think so, but not as much as you might think. It has been two months since she was born and I do miss being alone with you.”
“I’m feeling pretty much the same. I mean, I love Ellie, but you and I were together first. I miss that.”
“Let’s go eat, I’m hungry.”
They were headed to their favorite Italian place, a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant one would miss if they weren’t looking. They were seated quickly and ordered their favorites off the menu though they didn’t look at the menu. It hadn’t changed in years.
While they waited, Merlin took Morgana’s hands from across the table. “I miss moments like this more than anything,” he said.
“So do I,” she agreed. “I love our daughter but I think it’s important to get away from her now and then.”
“I agree. And I’ll try to give you more of these moments as time goes by.”
She squeezed his hands. “I appreciate that. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
