Merlin opened his front door to find total silence. Usually there was music or the television playing, or even just Morgana and Ellie chattering to each other. But today, nothing. He didn’t want to call out; he was afraid to wake either of them if they were asleep. That meant he had to search from room to room.
He started with the kitchen. No one was there. He went into the bathroom, but found no one there either. He looked in the master bedroom but no Morgana or Ellie was to be found. Lastly, he checked Ellie’s room and smiled.
There on the floor, a blanket was spread. Morgana and Ellie lay there, asleep, surrounded by Ellie’s toys. It looked like they had fallen asleep during playtime. Merlin quickly backed out of the room and closed the door. He went back to the kitchen to prepare dinner for the three of them, knowing they would be hungry when they woke.
