lots to say, but at least it's not shallow, mindless ramblings that waste both cyberspace & my time

First of all, LHS Prom literally rocked my shoes off on Saturday night. Even though they played mostly stupid pop/rap/R&B music all night, and DIDN'T play Reel Big Fish although i requested it twice. There were lots of cool kids there, though, so it was still fun! For those of you who weren't there (grr richard - j/k), i went with literally a ( Read more... )

Leaders are overrated anonymous May 14 2003, 21:36:10 UTC
When complaints about leaders such as this comes up, I hearken back to my days at LHS when we would go to the fabled Dr Tim leadership clinic. The one thing he said that has always stuck in my head is that everyone is a leader, whether it's a good leader or a bad leader. The conformists (aka "sheep") are leaders by trying to convince you that you are in the wrong by not conforming to what corporations (aka their "god") say you should believe. Then there are people like you that fight those ideals and try to lead people into a realm outside the comfort zone. Remember, people don't like to rock the boat, they get afraid it's going to flip. And then those of us who understand certain laws know how far this boat will rock, and we try to push it that far knowing it will only go that far if others join in.

And Kristin, don't get upset about relationships. I've done the upset thing before, and all it does is add stress to one's life. I know it's hard to not get upset. When I get my most depressed about it, I remember what Devin told me once, and I really think it's going to be similar for you (not an exact quotation): "Heath, you're one of a kind. There's some of us that will have lots of relationships, searching for that right one and having a hard time. Then there's you. Someday, you're going to meet somebody and it'll click. You'll be together for the rest of your lives. That's just how it is." Just relax, have fun, and things will go your way. You're a great person from what I've known of you.

In summary: Everyone is a leader, even if they don't have a title. Those are just ego-boosters anyways. Relationships are good and all, but don't let the lack thereof mess up the rest of your life.

As always,
Heath
