Spent most of tonight writing an essay for the Presidential Scholars application. It only has five of them to do!!! The whole time i was alternating between a good work ethic because i actually thought of an interesting essay to write, and general expectation-rooted stress. The latter was strongest when my mom came in and started telling me how i needed to finish all of my other applications, and turn in my audition tape for the Lincoln Municipal Band audition, and oh yeah she's going to miss my piano playing next year when i'm off to college. I'm going to miss the piano. It's a beautiful piano. I helped pick it out.

A bright spot in my day was rehearsal for the French Horn Revolution (also known as Horn Ensemble, or Rachel Black and the Heart Attacks, or the Triple Horn Bypass, but FHR is the REAL name!). They actually wanted to keep rehearsing long after we'd said we were going to quit. It's wonderful to have horn players who actually want to play. I sat second chair to Adam Hilkemann at Winter Winds, and he was so apathetic - the minute rehearsal started, he wanted to quit playing. Why even do something like music if you don't like it? To make it a true artistic endeavor, you have to engage your whole heart and soul. Stupid forgotten application deadline and broken tape recorder. I could've done so much better!

Wesleyan honor band is coming up this weekend, and i'm prepared: i went out this afternoon and bought a chair seat pad. You think i'm being ridiculous, but they have the most horrible chairs there. I had the worst backache, or more specifically, spine-ache last year at the end of the weekend...

Have a good night, everyone. Life is beautiful.
