Vote Tomorrow
We got some literature on our door yesterday in support of the three candidates I'm voting for: Highberger, Schauner, and Maynard-Moody. Boog Highberger and David Schauner are the incumbents, and Maynard-Moody is running for the chair that has been vacated.
The candidates running against these three are a real threat to East Lawrence, downtown, and North Lawrence. They are being supported financially (to the tune of over $20,000!) by corporate developers and have stated that their top priority is total suburbanization of Lawrence. Their elaborate "development" plans will draw tax dollars away from our neighborhood and draw business away from downtown Lawrence, bringing down our quality of life so a few developers can make big bucks. Want a second Wal-Mart? Vote for the douchebags like Chestnut and Dever. Want small business to disappear? Vote for Chestnut and Dever.

My choices for Lawrence school board (this is the only other thing on the ballot):
1. Marlene Merrill
2. Michael Pomes
3. Rich Minder
You can actually vote for up to FOUR school board members but I'm choosing to just vote for three unless I get a compelling case otherwise. REMEMBER: You can always just vote for one if you want! You are allowed to vote for UP TO four for School Board and up to THREE people for City Commission.
