Wow. Merlin hears Arthur's insults and believes Arthur is just telling the truth about what a fuck up he is? He really does need to tell Arthur that. Arthur would stop if he knew about Merlin's self loathing and why he feels that way.

Merlin needs love and support not more tearing down or exposing himself. I hope he's got more of a support system than Freya and Gaius. He needs some professionals in his corner. This fun, frothy story has taken a very dark turn.
