Icons of 2011

A review of my icons for 2011.

January

I didn't really have much colour in January. I was experimenting with quite a few different things. Mostly curves in my colouring, but the looking a little bland. I did some crazy crops and some of the textures didn't really go with what I was doing.

February

I didn't make anything at all this month.

March

Gleeverse inspired me with the icon rainbow. I made some bright icons. I experimented with black and white pictures with levels for colouring. I started using bright fun textures to crop my pictures against.

April

I continued experimenting with fun textures and added more bolded text. April was the month for Gleeverse's Icon Tag and I made 450 icons in one weekend. I returned back to selective colour in my colouring in a couple of my icons.

May

I continued to experiment with different ways I could incorporate textures. I learnt how to cap videos myself with KMPlayer which made it ten times easier to get the perfect pic especially during fast songs.

June

In June I used levels versus black & white again. I also started using levels to make bolder colour changes especially amongst the backgrounds. I also became obsessed with the icon textures from two percent.

July

This month I incorporated textures with levels and selective colour. Some efforts seemed more successful than others. I brought back the bright fun textures but used them to make the images stand out more.

August

August I added Colour Balance to the mix which brought some pretty results. I also continued my crazy love for levels and the drastic colour changes.

September

It was all about the vibrant. The brighter I could make an icon the better! I love colour and it really showed in this crazy bunch of icons. I also experimented a bit with repetition and different ways to mask colouring.

October

The first non-glee icon post for the year. I made some Harry Potter icons Hufflepuff's knight week at hogwartsishome. I realised that not all caps are the same to colour and bring about a different result. Harry Potter was quite fun to colour. I also seemed to enjoy close or interesting crops.

November

Playing with colour is what I love, and it's most evident in November. I tried adding more darkness to my icons with my colouring. Well as dark as my love for bright colours would let me. I also experimented with drastic amounts of selective colour. Pink-haired Quinn was great for that.

December

I learnt how to use my textures as brushes and did some crazy experimenting on my tvrealm bingo icons. Some of them worked out really great, others look terrifying. For my 20in20 I used more pright colours and seemed to go a bit overboard on the yellow/orange. haha.
