the origin of the species?
I am watching a koce documentary. A whole lot of frumpy biologists are providing voiceovers, drawing elaborate metaphors between the mating habits of birds and monkeys and the dating and marriage life of human beings. It’s kind of creeping me out…but it’s also weirdly fascinating. Did you know that swans appear to be monogamous but actually sleep around quite freely? No? Nor did I! Apparently, swans are not alone in this life of promiscuity. Foxes, also thought to be monogamous, are actually very guilty of sowing their wild oats. 80% of fox offspring are the result of one night stands. Tsk, tsk.
Actually, I’m alternating between this documentary and “the millionare matchmaker” . One channel 8, they are painting a lonely barn swallow’s feathers black to test the hypothesis that females are attracted to darker color. On channel 78, they are taking a helpless, wealthy bachelor into Gucci and loading him up with fitted blazers and skinny jeans. Hmm.
