Sometimes it is really difficult to be this good
Alright, so yes I have confidence in a lot of my abilities. But our team project for OPS 495 are practicially operations gods, and think we have changed the mind of the company. We did a semesters worth of analysis doing a consulting project on a company about an hour away. Basically (trying to avoid OPS and Business terminologoies), they have a series of machines that run slower than all the rest that are holding up the whole show. They also try to operate on a just in time system, meaning they try to get enough product to meet demand, never holding inventory. It is kind of a hand feeding mouth system to operate.
Knowing that machines were starved for work, and others were running ahead, we looked for an efficient process to find it. Long story short, we were able to come up with an excel program that quanitified everything, and based off their figures we inserted data from Process Modeland optimization process, and found a way to save them money....BIG money. Further, our model cannot be hurt by change, and thus we can save them money even on 100% obsolescence....which is ridiculous. This means they could throw away everything they made of their top product, and still make more money.
So in other words, everything was SWEET!
