so, the other night, I ran into Matt Lawrence at Shari's when me and J went there. We jawed back and forth a bit, usual small talk. When I enquired as to how his family was, he mentioned that his sister works for Fox 12. So, I figured I had to ask, "Ok, we watch the news after 24 every week, and every live story they have a prop they use. Is that required, or what is the deal?"
So, he said he'd get back to me.
Fast forward to tonight, he calls me.
"Yeah, so, I have an answer for you. For every live story, the reporters are required to have a prop, the writers are required to write in a prop for the story, and at the studio, they have a big bucket with props and a big poster that says, 'Don't Forget Your Prop'"
The things you learn, the things you learn.
I also remember during the ice storm last winter, when we were watching and saw they had 2 lapel mics on for the live broadcast, the producer wrote me back to say it's in case one of the lapel mics breaks. Interesting.
