does anyone else feel the slightest bit voyeuristic about this whole Terri Schiavo thing? I mean, this is truly a private matter for this family, no matter how bitter, it's their thing. I think it's chilling that despite the fact 19 (!!!) judges have taken the side of the husband (remove the tube) and that her parents have said they don't even care what she wanted, they got the government involved. There was Jeb Bush's unconstitutional bill he had passed originally allowing the tube to go back in, then it was Congress (Congress!) that came in and changed the law to allow federal courts to have jurisdiction in the case. Is that the slight bit alarming to anyone?
I have a hard time taking a side in this debate. The husband said she never wanted this life. The parents say they don't care what she wanted. Which side of this is selfish? Who are they keeping Terri Schiavo alive for?
GWB said it should be the federal government's stance to favor life. I tend to agree, that should be the government's stance, life is good, but in a case like this, to impose themselves on people's private lives? Yikes.
