I havnt updated in a while...let's see....

we had the band concert last week..it was incredibly awesome as usual. A lot of kids from Seaford came (all different grades elementary through high school) so that was pretty cool. After band hell week we had orchestra hell week. It was cool though, because the program featured the English Horn player from the Brussels philharmonic (or whatever it's called over there). He did 2 master classes with us during the week. So i got to play for him (my famous Haydn solo, what else?) and it was reeeeeeeally good. He gave such great feedback and I was really happy with how I played. We also did a session with him on reed making, which was a little tricky because they make reeds so very differently in that part of Europe. The orchestra concert was good...i was only in 2 pieces playing English Horn, nothing big, so it was very easy and non stressful.

Now that Hofstra is done (sort of) it's time for the round of Seaford concerts! Two elementary schools this week, hopefully I'll make them. And then the middle and high school concerts next week! I have only 4 rehearsals left with my band. I'm nervous because it's my first concert, but I'm really really excited. I absolutely adore my kids, and although we have already had our share of rough spots, they have worked very hard and put in a lot of effort. It should be a great concert, and my band was even invited to perform in the finale (Sleigh Ride).

I can't believe Christmas is in 2 weeks! It's so crazy how fast time goes by. And that mean we are moving to the new barn in 2 weeks, which is very stressful for me but again very exciting. I'm now almost 4 months into my teaching career, and I have yet to figure out how to balance work, with grad school, with horse, with performing, with family and friends. oiy. i guess everyone feels the same way.

oh yeah! one more thing....the other night Jen and I went out for a romantic dinner at The Cheesecake Factory...a fine quality establishment if you ask me. We were eating and chatting, and all of a sudden, Jen was like "oh my god, i see a mouse!" So i turned to where she was pointing, and indeed, there was a very cute little mouse, crawling sort of on the wall and sort of on the jacket of the people sitting next to us. So we got there attention and told the guy that he had a mouse on his coat. He was with his girlfriend, probably a couple about our age. She naturally flipped out, he was calm, but kind of freak out. Image sitting there having a nice dinner with your significant other, and two crazy girls start yelling at you that there is a mouse right next to you! Totally crazy. Never in my life have I had anything like that happen.
