Well, this post has nothing to do with Indian politics. What I'm talking about is
Monaco GP , the first wet race of this season. It was full of drama, excitement, thrill, HOPE and DISAPPOINTMENT. It was raining hard, on one of the most difficult and challenging circuit. Force India driver
Adrian Sutil started 19 on grid, just one place ahead of team-mate Fisichella. He worked his place from 19th to 4th place, managed to have lead of 30 sec from Räikkönen. It was just a matter of 18 laps before he would have scored his first championship point and the first constructor point for Team Force India. It was fantastic, inspiring and breath taking driving from him. Who would have imagined that, A car which could not even qualified for Q2, would be running ahead of the defending world champion Kimmi. I'm a hardcore Ferrari fan, but it's Indian heart that beats in. I was ecstatic by just though of Sutil finishing 4th. I had never been happy when Kimmi was lagging.
But then It was the fate which played cruellest game with him. It was his bad luck which spoiled the party. The accident of Nakajima crashed his Williams when it was 16 laps to go, spilling derby all over. Then came safety car, which got better of all the lead Sutil had built. By the time safety car went back, all the front runners were running neck-to-neck. It was Force India car which separated two Ferraris. (Massa - Sutil - Kimmi). For the first time I wished, Kimmi could not overtake. Suddenly Kimmi, who was pushing very hard, lost control and banged Force India from back, damaging Sutil's car and forcing him to retire. That was it. All dreams , hopes were shattered. Force India crew were disappointed, Sutil was inconsolable. He was in tears. He was so close, yet so far.
Monaco is considered to be the most toughest circuit. And when it rains, it becomes tougher. Power, Top speed does not make much difference. What matter is how driver handles the car, how well he takes those tight corner, how well he drives through narrow pass without skidding and without the help of traction control. It demands 110% of concentration from drivers. There can not be margin of error. This is the only track where almost all car looks on par, instead of only Ferrari and McLaren leading the pack. I personally fill that Force India would never get so closer. Feeling too sad.
And What I feel about Kimmi ? I could have expected such mistake from some rookie but not from the World Champion. He is Iceman - cool -calm and composed. I've never seen him goofing up or loosing the control when it mattered the most. Kimmi not everyone drives into Ferrari. There may not be next time for FI.
Sutil, May the force be with you.
