To start off: Thanks for coming along Jill, you looked stunning, and as always you were amazingly fun to hang out with.
Two words can really sum up the experience: FUN; Awkward.
Many of you out there might look at the two words and think "wtf?" Normally awkward is bad, and rarely if ever, coincides with fun (this is of course disregarding sitcoms where awkward is a synonym for funny). Well, my life is very sitcom-esque and for the most part, the awkward moments are the best, and I have a lot of those moments. Prom was essentially filled with them.
example:
After the initial
photo-op with Jill and the entrance of the limo I am flung forward 5 feet through the air as we come to a sudden stop. Sadly, I was not outdoors so my watch couldn't fly off and get hit by a car.
Interestingly enough, the last actually funny awkward moment happened at the end of the evening/morning in the limo as well with me entirely missing a seat and sprawling out on the ground.
Anyway back to the actual 'real person' things that happened at prom.
Might as well start off with the limo ride. Jill and I got picked up at 4 for the supposedly 3-4 hour limo ride and as mentioned before I went airborne. Picked up Kyle and his date Emma, then went on to pick up everyone else at Mike's house. Apparently the MIAA Championships were on Saturday causing Brian's date to be rather late (the MIAA's ended at 4:30 and we were picking up at 5:30). Eventually, the group picked her up at an
Exxon station. With a completely packed limo we then headed on to
Marriott Waterfront which was, as we learned a short while later, not the Marriott
where we were having our prom. We arrive at the Waterfront, get all of our bags out and start walking in with our limo about to drive off when one of the door men stops us and mentions there's no prom at the hotel this evening. Wonderful. We managed to stop our limo before it got off and we drove to the other Marriott in downtown Baltimore.
Upon arrival at the correct destination we were still half an hour early to prom so we stood around in the lobby for a bit doing a whole lot of nothing. During this period of time I found out that the bathrooms of the Marriott Inner Harbor beep... frequently. Its mildly disturbing. Anyway, we were finally allowed in so Jill and I got the picture thing done right away so it wouldn't have to be done later. After which was dinner. The food was tasty.
Kyle Jackson got the dance floor started with an absolutely amazing routine. You had to be there to realize the full grandeur of it. For those interested, I got some of it video taped and if you want I'll send it to you. After the dance floor had been sufficiently 'warmed' there was lots of
dancing, and lots of
hot. By hot, I'm referring to the temperature of course, it was disgustingly hot on the dance floor, ask Jill she'll be happy to tell you how much I was sweating out there. The majority of the prom-proper was going back and forth between dance floor and
Dave's table drinking up and
cooling off and then getting back out and
dancing some more. Eventually though, it all ended and the main prom was over so Jill and I got changed and boreded one of the coach buses to head to
Jillian's.
Interesting things that happened on the bus ride:
1. I did not win $100
2. It's been decided that I am actually
Brandon Fraser3. Contemplation of grabbing the weird old guy's balls
4. The ride was much shorter than expected
5. Why are the lights off? And why are they making such a big deal of keeping them off?
While I had an awesome time at Jillian's I was rather dissappointed with it. The games available to play were not incredibly entertaining (unless you wanted to wait forever to bowl or play some billiards). The most entertaining portion of the Jillian's trip could've occured at a diner instead of a place that cost us something like $20,000 to rent out, ah well, regardless, it was incredibly
hilarious, fun, and
exhausting. The morning finished up with prize drawings where I didn't win anything, but Josh won a fantastically new Dell laptop. Congrats Josh, I hate you.
Eventually left post-prom and boarded el limo where I reintroduced the limo floor to me falling on it. Drove home, dropped Jill off at her house and then walked home. All in all, it was an absolutely fantastic evening (and morning too).
