Rec: Aliens in the Backyard by Raven Aorla
Hello everyone! Thanks for having me back for another reccing stint. This time around I’ll be focusing largely on crossover fanfic. Much like sci-fi/fantasy is the art of using the fantastic to shine a light on ourselves, good crossovers use the different POV to shine a light on the original. It’s a genre that’s often overlooked, but when done right it’s a treat.

Keep going, though, and the fun, joyous improbabilities of Calvin’s world start to peel back, one by one. This goes from being an easy read to a hard one so quietly that you don’t even realize it until you’re halfway through the fourth chapter crying your eyes out, and it will haunt you (and your Calvin and Hobbes rereads) long after it’s done.
