Characters/Pairings: Barbara/Ian
Recced because: I've been catching up on Classic Who episodes I haven't watched before, which included most of Ian and Barbara's run. Their jubilant tour of London at the end of "The Chase" is one of the shippiest scenes I've ever seen, and I think it's completely fair for fic authors to treat that as the couple's first date, as Pendragon does here. Fifty years after Ian and Barbara returned to Earth in a Dalek ship, they re-visit all the places they celebrated that day: Trafalgar Square, the Thames Embankment, and even a city bus. It's a joyful, romantic story that left me as giddy as Ian and Barbara were, and hopefully will do the same for you.
Excerpt:
“What did they call it when he changes his face? Re-charging?” she asked as she took another bite from the crunchy toast.
Ian laughed. “You make it sound like they plug him into the wall.”
Barbara frowned, desperately trying to remember the name. “Well it was ‘re’ something.”
“Rejuvenation?”
“That sounds like they’re sending him in for a quick spa treatment.”
“Re-servicing?” he added.
Barbara laughed. “Now he really does sound like an old car.”
“Renewing?”
“Well…something like that.”
“That’s going to drive me mad all day,” Ian said. “But never mind, I have a surprise for you.”
