Recced because: The Eight Doctor needed cheering up during the Time War...so he went to visit Jo. I feel that should say it all right there, really. These two work fantastically well together and the author has their voices down pat, I think. Wonderfully captures Jo, her relationship with Three and Eight's view of same. The wibbley wobbley timey wimey aspect is really well played too. It's also heaps of fun to get a glimpse into Jo's life AWAY from UNIT and the Doctor. I don't know whether I ought to say this or not but there is the odd typo. It's nothing major that a quick beta wouldn't fix and they're so SO well worth ignoring.
"So, ummm, no that it's not nice to see you, but, why are you here?" The silence that followed seemed to Jo interminable.
"It's, well, it's trouble at home I guess," he said finally, "doesn't that sound odd."
"On Gallifrey, you mean?"
"Well, yes. Oh, it's such a long bleak story, Jo, it'd take ages to explain, but, that's why I wanted to come see you, though. I felt so morbid sometimes, when I was stuck on earth, and then you'd come in a make a joke or a cup of tea and- you always made me feel like things weren't so bleak as they looked. So, being the selfish fellow I am I thought I'd come and see you and maybe charm you into making me a cup of tea for old times sake, but instead I woke you and your flat mate and made you think I was a robber- or worse, and somehow you still made me a cup of tea."
"Oh, well, it's only tea bags. Besides Helen- my flat mate, she's always going on about my being 'married to my job.' Maybe this'll trick her into thinking I have a proper social life."
