Recced because: Despite the cracked-out premise (for which you may blame the kinkmeme), this is easily one of the best stories I've read in recent months. It's rare to find fic featuring Steven in the first place-to find it and have it be fic of such imagination and quality is an unexpected pleasure. Darkerchild's fic excels both as character study and in worldbuilding: her version of Earth a hundred years after The Dalek Invasion of Earth is all too real in its dysfunctionality. Steven's experiences under Mechanoid captivity and his descent into madness are similarly well-portrayed. This is an excellent, imaginative fic and I can't recommend it enough.
It's the epic saga of the love between a man and his stuffed panda. How can you not love something like that?
