So, when I said "more later" earlier today I actually meant... this. For a so-called writer, I'm pretty lax with words, huh? The last little bit of fun wasn't meant to go further. Although I am queen of the "standalones that turn out not to be..."
There will, however, definitely be more fic, despite the fact that one of the things that happened during the last couple of months was that I left the fandom.
Really. One clear, calm day it struck me I hadn't thought about Spike for ages, I didn't feel fired by the thought of writing him anymore, and you know, he kind of has a funny chin. My extra icons on LJ ran out and I saw no point in renewing them. I even changed my wallpaper from Boggy's glorious "A Little Bit Dangerous" to a picture of Corsica. That was it - time to move on and happy to do it. And clearly the muse thought it was time, too, because he'd - gone.
Damn, I must have been depressed. As soon as I started feeling somewhat more Casslike again - bam. I needed the Spike fix. Unfortunately, the muse didn't want to come back. Selfish git. Anyway, we had a talk and he's agreed - I can finish off some of the stuff that's cluttering up my hard drive, but he's not going to promise new ideas. Humph. We'll see about that.
Oh, and he's back on my wallpaper.
Who did I think I was kidding?
Anyway, I'm going to make time to write because writing again feels good.
As did these. The nomination and awards fairy was particularly kind to me while I was out of sorts, which was a wonderful thing and one for which I'm inordinately grateful.
Nightswimming,
Lessons and
Five Stages have all been nominated over at Amy's wonderful
Spark and Burn Awards. That's just - amazing. And
Nightswimming has been nominated in the 'Stake Me' category over at
Shadows and Dust.
And
Lessons, bless it, won Best Short at
xevildeadgirlx's
Burst into Flame awards. See?
And from LLG...
These really made me smile, because I have to say I wasn't in a good place when I wrote Lessons. I'm glad it didn't show too much. Also - I suspect I know who nominated it. Thank you pet - you made me very happy :)
And it doesn't stop there. Over at the Spuffy Awards...
People still read Keep on Moving! How wonderful is that? I tend to think once a fics been posted it's done. How fanatstic to know it's still being enjoyed.
And finally...
You know, I have a real soft spot for Five Stages.
*blushes*
Always find it kind of embarassing, doing that.
But I need to say big, big thanks to the wonderful people who take the time to nominate and to the equally wonderful people who take the time to run these awards. Really - can't tell you how much it means, and especially how much it meant over the last couple of months.
AND - last but definitely not least, I have the most amazingly talented friends list who came away with an immense hoarde of awards between them - not only the writers but the artists, too. Can't begin to list everyone, but many congratulations all round!
You know, LJ can be a wonderful place to be.
