Things that go boom!

Okay, so for the past few months, I’ve been trying to save money for the Texas trip. I made a promise, and I’ll be danmed if I’ll break. No matter what, I’ll be there.

However, I got out of school, and I knew that Id have to spend my day off watching more zombie flicks for my research paper. Now, I don’t get scared easily, but zombies are one thing I’m oddly paranoid about. Like… to a fault. I’ve put a lot of thought into how I’d handle a zombie attack. I have a designated Anti-Zombie Stick in my car, I’ve been keeping a blunt or sharp object on me at all times. I don’t actually think I’ll need them, but I swear to god, I can’t part with it.

So I figured I’d diffuse some of that pent of paranoia by doing the American thing. Shooting a big gun.

I went down to On Target and shot three. A Kimber 1911 knock-off, a Mac 11, and some variety of AR-15/M-16.

The Kimber, I hated. Don’t get me wrong, the .45 packed a lot of punch, and not only was the recoil light, but the raised sights made target acquisition quick an easy. Twas nice, don’t get me wrong, but it jammed far more often than is possibly acceptable. Three times a clip, minimum. Besides that, the shells has a nasty habit of not ejecting to the side, but rather right back into my face. Powder burns aren’t fun.

The Mac 11 was semi-automatic, and took half a month to load. The clip carried… 38ish? Maybe 40, but my fingers were tired and I couldn’t get them in. Pulling the bolt back took away to much effort. I had to hold it in a dangerous position just to cock it, and the sights were… awkward. The gun might be effective with burst and automatic fire, but as a semi-auto… it’s just awkward. There’s just no good way to hold it. Meh. Fun though.

Then the M16 variant. Twas much fun. I usually hate the design, but what can I say? It was insanely accurate even for a novice like me, and despite how tiny a .223 is, it had a hell of a lot of force behind it.

Meh. I know none of you give a shit. Meh.
