Fright Night Film Fest

I attended Fandom Fest aka Fright Night Film Fest in KY this weekend. I met Bruce Campbell, Kassie DePavia, Colin Ferguson, Peter Davidson, Walking Dead and more. Report behind the cut.

Hubby and I drove to Louisville this weekend and spent one very long night and day at Fright Night Film Fest

We only had day passes for Saturday so spent what little time we could finding out where our room was and where the con rooms where and most important where was the line for limited Bruce Campbell autograph tickets! I planned to get up at 2am to get in line. Our room was on the second floor it was a great location and convient to everything but sooo noisy. The bourbon bar was right outside and someone was constantly playing a piano.

So, I ended up getting up at 2am and going down to the registration area where they had a line roped off for Bruce Campbell. I didn't really sleep at all that night to tell you the truth. Anyway, hubby wanted to sleep longer so he stayed behind. Well, I got out of the room, went up the escalator and nearly ran right into Norman Reedus (walking dead) and did have to step aside to avoide running into Sean Patrick Flannery (boondock saints) Both whom I met last year at Dragon Con. I recognized them immediately. That woke me the heck up! They were in the bar (suprised?) that was connected to the other side of the hotel. It was literally two hotels side by side that made up the same hotel.

Anyway I went down and get in line. Found about 3 other people down there who had been there since 12:30. I was glad I wasn't the only crazy one!

That's me. I got in line at number 4! Later when we were in Bruce's autograph line I heard people behind us (me and hubby) saying "They were in line at 2am! "  It wasn't any easy thing to do but I was pretty determined not to miss Bruce. I already had my photo ops but wanted and autograph.

Lots of people started coming down around 3am.

everyone slept, including me! I thought this was hilarious though everyone's feet sticking out. so I took a pic.

Lots of conversation and sleeping and eating and hours later, 8am rolled around and we got our tickets! Not to mention being interviewed on live tv for being the first few fans in line wth! That was scary. They asked us to say our favorite Bruce quotes. I was so tired by that point I couldn't think I just said the first thing that came to my mind. "This is my boomstick!"  LOL. Hubby and I had made new friends and gotten our tickets. We went back to the room to sleep til 1pm. WHen it was time for our photo ops with Bruce. However I couldn't sleep so I showered and went back down where I met this lovely gent next.

Peter Davison the 5th Doctor. I have loved him since I was 16! He was very friendly. I told him I thought when I saw Georgia (his daughter) on tv I might be as tall as her but I said I doubt it and then we spoke about her height, ect ect. This is my autograph from him.

I then walked into the Walking Dead area. I couldn't get near the others so I went straight to Jeffery Demunn "Dale"
I told him how traumatized I'd been by his characters death and how I cried. He was very gracious and thanked me several times.

I took a pic with him. He sighed my walking dead cast photo.

btw, this is my new fridge magnet. Hilarious!

By this time It was time to get in line for Bruce Campbell's photo op. We had to wait in a long long line that blocked elevators and escalators it was so crazy. But we eventually were pulled inside to see Bruce. He was all dressed up! and directing his photo-ops, telling everyone where to stand and how to pose. He told me to "act like you're looking for something so i'm like wth? in the photo.

Then Hubby and I got in the shot.

We rushed out after to get in line for his panel. We ended up accidentally walking into a Walking Dead panel.

This place was soo unorganized. Not anything like Dragon Con. A worker told me we wouldn't have to clear the room at the end so I was like great! Then when the panel ended this other lady came in and was telling us to clear the room. I spoke up and said the other person said we could stay and it made her mad. She said "well I guess you can stay then. Cant go back on what's already been said even if it was wrong!"  That's not the usual at cons' You generally have to clear a room. But I was glad to stay. Not enough VIP's came in and we got second row seats!  Then it was Bruce time!

I need to take up donations for a new camera. My battery died and the camera takes horrible pictures.  I was soo disappointed. But I got pics. Just not good ones.

I also got video before it said "Low battery" not really dead but close enough. Then I get home and vind out my settings were messed up. I wasn't happy at all. It recorded tiny. But here is the vid none the less

Bruce interacted with the audience likea pro. He made this panel the best one i've ever seen to tell the truth. So entertaining. He started asking the others his own questions when the audience started making it all about him. He also prank phone called a lady's husband. I really wish I had taped that. He told the guy that he was his uncle George and that he'd kidnapped his wife! The guy hung up on Bruce!! LOL LOL

Next was the line for his autograph. He shook my hand and said "Nice!" when I handed him my Autoloycus photo. I was amazed at my coherency. I told him how much respect I had for him as an actor and a person. I told him I thought he was a sweetheart (lol!) and it was a pleasure to see him in anything he did. His reply? "Well, wait til you get to know me!"

My autograph

Husbands

I also told him we were from Morristown area (where Evil Dead was shot).
We had what we came for :) However I did see two more before the end of the day.
Kassie DePavia from One Life to Life (and Evil Dead).

Colin Ferguson Eureka was my last stop. I caught him before he left..or rather in the process of leaving so I and hubby were the only ones at his table. I talked to him about how we had just started watching the show, his role in "The Monkees Story, and seeing him at Dragon Con.  He talked alot and was curious about my other autographs in my folder. This man is so sweet and personable. I love him! Just a regular guy! He took a photo with me for free!

We went back to our room shortly after this and saw Colin in a movie on the tv! I had been up all day and all night for Bruce Campbell. I fell asleep at 7pm and slept til 6am. It was a small con with lots of people and rather disorganized but I came home very happy...except I need a new camera!
