Update

I think I need to find another title other than "Update." Any way, what's happened over the past year? March/April saw Mum and I in Europe. Everything went well. Enjoyed Paris - stayed near the Eiffel Tower so that was one of the first and last things we saw every day. Italy was wonderful. Would have liked more time in Rome, but can tick it off the list for now. Florence is another place I'd like to go back to. Mum loved Venice. Did the touristy things in London and Edinburgh. Most of which I'd done but I was happy to go through them again. Managed a couple of Doctor Who references through the holiday. No vampires in Venice, couldn't see any monsters in Van Gogh's paintings at the Musee de Orsay (loved this more than the Louvre) and went Shakespeare's Globe in London - luckily no Carrionites there!

Unfortunately all holiday's must end so it was off back to work. In July my world came crashing down with the sudden death of my father. Got wonderful support from friends and work colleagues. Management - not so much. Over the rest of the year I visited Canberra and Hobart. The War Memorial in Canberra is amazing and I'm sure I missed bits. Really liked Hobart and would like to go again. Made another trip home to NZ. Had Christmas off which was nice and worked nights over New Years. Will have to work Christmas this year to be fair although hoping to get some time off in January. This year's been off to a fairly good start. Have been home to NZ. Planning my next big trip at present. I'm doing a two-week tour of Ireland then spending 5 weeks in the UK. Not everything is finalised but I'll be spending some time up around Hadrian's Wall checking out Roman forts, going to the Lake District, Liverpool, Leeds, Haworth, York, Edinburgh, Stratford-upon-Avon, Cardiff, London and a tour of Devon and Cornwall. I'll use London as a base for places such as Brighton and Oxford. I'm pretty much just wanting to see some places I haven't been to and revisiting a few places I love such as Edinburgh. I'm also going back to NZ in June for my 40th. Otherwise, I've been buying far to many books (not that that's a bad thing) and looking forward to winter.">Unfortunately all holiday's must end so it was off back to work.
