Not much to say really. I can't even remember the last time I posted and I'm too lazy to look it up. *g*. Nothing's changed on the work front, still in the same place doing the same thing. Managed to get back to NZ 4 times last year, including one time to Dunedin. Dunedin is my home and it was the first time getting back there since moving to Melbourne 5 years ago. It hasn't changed much, and still feels the same old Dunedin. I went back in November and it snowed the night I arrived. It was great catching up with friends from church and my old workmates. Dunedin Hospital is still pretty much the same. The ward hadn't changed, except for finally getting rid of the carpet! Carpet doesn't belong in a hospital unless it's in a non-patient area! Many of the staff I worked with are still there. I was very tempted not to return to Melbourne. I miss Dunedin desperately sometimes. I do love Melbourne, but it's not my home home.
Looking forward to going to Singapore next month for a few days. Hopefully will be able to catch up with a friend. I just need to go somewhere that isn't NZ or Australia. Trying to make some decisions regarding my future and feeling a little bit trapped. My sister and her children live in the same city as my mother. My sister will be moving with the kids to Christchurch to join up with her partner who's moved down there for his job. My has put out the idea that she might just move to Melbourne and I'm freaking out. Don't get me wrong, I love my mum and have no issues being in the same city with her, it's just that the idea makes me feel trapped. I do want to move back to Dunedin, but I need to sort things out financially. I get more money here, so I want to pay of my student loan and save for a house deposit first. I can't very well tell Mum that sorry, I'm leaving. Ah, well, there's nothing much I can do about things at the moment. If Christchurch continues to have all these quakes, my sister might change her mind about moving.
Mum and I are off to Europe in March. We fly to London via Hong Kong, and spend one night in London before taking the Eurostar to Paris. We have 3 nights in Paris before flying to Rome to join up with our tour of Italy. I'm really looking forward to going to Rome. I'm currently doing a course on The Fall of the Roman Republic through Open Universities, and can't wait to see the historic sites. After the tour we fly to London for a few days then head up to Edinburgh for about 5 nights, plus a 2 day tour up to the highlands and staying a night in Inverness. Then it's back down to London for a few more nights before flying back.
Already thinking about next year's big trip. Likely to go back to the US and maybe Canada. Haven't really thought about it too much at this stage. But one thing is for certain, there is no way I'm passing up the opportunity to go to Ossining!
