OMG, SOMEBODY CALL CNN. THE GIRL REMEMBERED SHE HAS A LIVEJOURNAL.
Yeah, sorry. I forgot for a while. Though I think I can honestly blame it on Seven. I only remember to update when she does it.
L'anyhoodle, there hasn't been much happening til yesterday. I've been doing the same old same old. Nannying, sleeping, eating, repeat. But then yesterday, James Thayer called at 11:30 AM. Which is early for me on a Saturday.
He said he was doing the 48 Hour Film Competition again. I'd done an acting role for him last year and he wanted me to take the lead role this time. I really wanted to just sleep, but I agreed, because I am a Good Person. I brought a book and several costume changes and headed off.
What I didn't know was how much work we had to do. As soon as I got there, we (me, James, his brother tyler, and their friends David and Chris Welles, and Marquis, the giant black cameraman) zoomed off to his composer's place, Jeremy. I call it a place because it can't rightly be called a house. I think the correct title would be Death Is Closing In And Don't Touch That Stain, I Don't Know What It Is. But the place is like that because dear Jeremy spends all of his money on music. Literally. He has instruments, editing software, high tech recording equipment, etc. So we wrote out a few songs for the film, fiddled around with some tunes, and then we shut ourselves one by one into The Steamy Closet to record our parts. It was literally just a tiny little storage closet that was hotter than two rats making love in a wool sock. Misery. BUT I sounded damn good.
So that took about 5 hours or so. Not kidding. We had yet to shoot a single frame of video. We zoomed away to Centennial Park, where we were SUPPOSED to film a few lovey dovey sappy cliche little bits (James writing a love letter whilst leaning on a willow tree by a lake staring into the sunset, etc) but we ran out of sunlight too fast. We decided to do the outdoor bits at dawn (ho gawd) and do all the indoor scenes that night.
So off we hurdled to James' house, grabbed everything we needed, and zipped around the corner to the home of Natalie Rankin, some girl who goes to Ravenwood who's entire family is musically talented. This we needed because the scenes called for many instruments to be around for us to pretend to use. The Rankins were supposed to be out of town, so no one was home when we got there around 8 ish. Buuuut they decided to come home early and got there around midnight, when we were not nearly done. Oh well.
I was feeling sick, nauseous, and had a headache, so I napped for an hour or so while they shot all the scenes where it would be just James. I woke up later, knocked back a Rockstar, and did my scenes with him. They were pretty fun, because some of them were flirty, and he's cute, so I liked it. Others were fun in a different way. His character is a drunk, and he gets abusive. So there were bits where we were fighting, and he grabbed my wrists and threw me into the couch. Another bit, he backhands me and then shoves me to the floor. And you know me, Seven. Me likee, bow chicka wow.
So we wrapped up the indoor scenes needed at the Rankin's house around 2: 30 AM. Off we trundled back to James' to do the scenes that were only me. Since the genre they had drawn for the competition was musical (that's why we had to record our own songs) I had to do some very melodramatic crying and ripping up photos while lip-syncing to the song I'd recorded earlier. A bit embarrassing/nauseating, but hey. I didn't write the script.
We finally got a break around 4 AM, when James and David went off to edit together what we had so far, and the rest of us rested, but no one really slept, because we knew we had to be up in an hour and a half to go back to the park. And sure enough, off we skedaddled. This part was the absolute worst because we were all so tired and even though it was only dawn the day was already hot and sticky. The mosquitoes were out in force and you KNOW how much I hate the little fuckers. We did the scenes with the love note writing and the him spinning me around and the him serenading me (costume changes for every damn one) and then we did the fun one. Him chasing me around through a gorgeous garden. I get pinned between him and some bushes, he puts my arms above my head, and kisses me. Heeeeeeee.
When we were all done shooting every scene we needed, I finally got to head home. I showered, napped for a bit, and here I am, all nice and not sticky but still very zombie like. If I remember, I'll post the finished product here when I get a link.
Ta!
