SEX!!!

Did I get your attention?

Don't worry, it's not that kind of post, there won't be any TMI.  It's actually about writing.  Here is my confession:

I have been working on a story for about a year now, in a writing workshop setting.  I'm a good 100 pages or so into it.  Obviously if I've gone 100 pages without a mention of romance, it's not a bodice-ripper, but I am getting to a point where it's simply going to have to come up, because the main character will be getting married soon.  Now, since it's set in an era in which pre-marital sex is somewhat more frowned-upon than it is now, this will be a new experience for this character, and therefore has to at least alluded to, or referred to, or in some way dealt with.

Now, still avoiding the TMI, I'm old enough that a lack of experience is not the problem.  Nor do I want a real sex scene complete with...you know...heaving bosoms and such.  It just needs to happen with the flow of the story, in a similar tone to the writing so far.  She is neither OMG in luuuuuuuv with the man in question, but nor is she being married off to a mustache-twirling villain, so their sex life needs to be...not great, but she's not suicidal over it either.

Suggestions?  Advice?  Anything?  The people in the writing workshop have been little help, because they 1.) laugh, and 2.) Don't write that sort of thing either.  I can't have her not get married because that's pretty integral to the plot (also, considering the era, "single by choice" was not an option.)
