Yesterday afternoon I arrived home exhausted and drunk. Exhausted by the energy exuding from Fergus Garrett and drunk on plants. I’d been to a ‘celebrity lecture’ organised by our Plant Heritage (NCCPG) group. A celebrity lecture is one where you pay £10.00 for your ticket and over 300 people had done so. Yesterday, for the third day running and again contrary to all forecasts, it was a glorious sunny afternoon here. This preserved the tradition that whenever the local NCCPG (Plant Heritage) group holds its meetings, keen gardeners are stuck in the community centre hall with the curtains drawn when they could be in their gardens. Good thing I didn't put any real money on my pick for the Grand National, as I'd have lost it.:-) Yesterday, lulled into a completely false sense of wealth, I bought a new digital camera. So this afternoon I dodged the showers to experiment with taking photos of flowers.
