I absolutely loved the Very English Mystery books. Links to my reviews may be found
here. After Elizabeth Edmondson’s untimely death last year, I was really sorry that there would be no more books in this enjoyable series. The good news is that there will be another instalment. A Matter of Loyalty will be out on 19th October. The book has been completed by Edmondson’s son, Anselm Audley, from notes and conversations. He was previously her editor, so I expect the same high standards of writing in the new book which made the previous ones such a pleasure to read.
I’m so looking forward to this and have just re-read the previous three books in preparation. In spite of the murder mysteries, spying and betrayal, I find that what I take away from these books is a mental picture of Hugo, Georgia, Freya and Mrs Partridge sitting cosily in the castle kitchen with Magnus the cat. These are characters you come to love.
