to the person (and I'm sure it was someone here), who recommended Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale. By a great stroke of luck I bought an almost mint copy in a charity shop for £1.50. Once I'd picked it up I grudged every second I wasn't reading it. It's terrific! Read it! But only if you've read Jane Eyre.
Just think, someone was given this as a present (it was price-clipped) and gave it away again.
