I love the trip to Hastings to buy the Christmas presents and then the Christmas Eve tour of the village with the pony and trap. One of my favourite Christmas scenes.

Me too. It's something about Meryon's line about "more toys than all the children in the world" that makes me well up.

Hallo again,I am the lady who alerted you to the Radio 4 progs yesterday(and inadvertently sent a second message thinking the first had not gone!).I listened to todays prog in the series and was enchanted.Would it be possible to e mail me (left address yesterday).Its purely bookish.You have given such wonderful authors to me and I now want to pick your brains re this new genre I fell for today.Think it was a Hilda Richards.Hope this is OK - did not know how else to contact you.Angela.
