Poirot's Choice

Just listening to David Suchet on Desert Island Discs. What a nice man he seems and what lovely music: lots of Mozart! Interesting that he picked the theme from Poirot. This is a new pleasure for me. I didn't watch any of the programmes first time round and am happily catching up on ITV 3. He's a wonderful actor; I can't imagine Poirot any other

I love David Suchet - I saw his Who Do You Think You Are? and he came across as such a lovely man. I'm a huge Poirot fan, although some of the latest ones have been tinkered with a bit too much for my liking. He does some little five minute interviews about acting Poirot that ITV3 often show when they have a Poirot weekend, he comes across well in those too.

What a shame I missed the WDYTYA but it's bound to be repeated. He was wonderful in The Way We Live Now. I'm enjoying the TV Poirot even though (or because?) I don't think I've read any of the books!

It was in the last series I think, so it'll probably be repeated soonish.

I love the Poirot books! I came to them after I started watching them on tv, and now I'm collecting them in the new facsimile editions of the first editions, they look lovely on my bookshelf. I also have a set of tatty pbs upstairs for reading on the bus....

Ah, oui, I agree. (a little poem!) just as John Thaw was the perfect Morse, and Kevin Whately is the perfect Lewis, and David Jason is the perfect Frost. I think it is quite, quite amazing how these actors are chosen who truly *are* these fictional characters.

I've never watched Frost but I agree about the others. How about Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes and Edward Petherbridge as Lord Peter Wimsey? Perfect.
