Day 10 - A Show You Thought You Wouldn't Like, But Ended Up Loving

I didn't want to watch DS9, let alone like it. They weren't on a spaceship, what was the point? Thankfully, I started watching anyway and it's now my favorite part of Trek. Even though Star Trek book are atrocious, there's an apt metaphor in one of them to explain my love for this spinoff. Ro, who after DS9 ended, came to the station to take Odo's spot as Chief of Security was in a runabout with Bashir and Dax. They asked her what it was like to serve on the Enterprise. Ro runs her fingers along the dash and displays the dust she picked up to the other two. She told them the Enterprise was too clean, even the engine room lacked dust and grime.

I love this show because it pushed the boundaries into darkness (as far as TPTB at Trek let them). These characters were allowed to get dirty, be dark, and show the grime and grit of fighting a war and it was wonderful.
