so there is of course, a year's worth of crap to get down in words, but right now i don't feel like talking about my life, but things going on outside the south hill bubble of ithaca college.

Today the United Farm Workers efforts and the strike of 310 Gallo Vineyards Inc employees was rewarded. A labor contract was agreed upon, and today on the steps of San Francisco's City Hall, there is a rally in support and appreciation of this victory.

Today, a majority of members of the US House of Reps voted to pass a federal hate crime law that includes all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. This is a pivotal victory for all of those who have been working toward actions like this for years.

Two weeks ago Susan Wood, the top woman at the FDA, announced her resignation today because of the continued delay on emergency contraception over the counter. Wood, former Assistant Commissioner for Women’s Health and Director of the FDA Office of Women’s Health, wrote, “The recent decision announced by the Commissioner about emergency contraception, which continues to limit women's access to a product that would reduce unintended pregnancies and reduce abortions is contrary to my core commitment to improving and advancing women's health.”

Supreme Court Justice nominee John Roberts continues to duck questions on his position on a woman's right to choose. Although he has said he believes in the right to privacy, he offered only a limited view of what that includes. Although some media may be leading with the impression that Roberts supports the right to privacy, he refuses to explain what this means for women. And that's troubling.
