Name:  Masumi Okamoto
Age: 16
Orientation: Straight
Birthday: April 30th (Taurus)
Grade Average: A (one of the top students in her year)

History: Masumi has been raised by her father and paternal grandparents for most of her life.  They aren’t rich but live comfortably in a decent sized house.  Masumi’s mother diedof throat cancer when Masumi was nine and Kazue was a year old.  Her father is away most of the time on business so she’s been raised primarily by her grandparents since her mother’s death.

Appearance: Masumi stands about 5'1' when she’s standing up very straight.  Everything about her is conservative, her clothes are of good quality but leave pretty much everything to the imagination.  When she isn’t in her uniform, she wears simple one piece dresses, blouses (mostly button up) and long skirts or slacks.  She owns one pair of jeans but only wears them when working outside in the garden or doing art projects.  She owns a locket that was her mother’s and some simple stud earrings but rarely wears them.  Masumi is pretty flat chested and her face hasn’t quite lost all of its baby fat yet.  Her hair is long and dark brown (her grandparents don’t like the idea of girls with short hair).  She usually leaves it down or wears it in pigtails or one long braid.

Personality: The easiest way to describe Masumi is conservative.  Her political views, her mannerisms, her speech...everything is old fashioned, polite, PC, and conservative.  She believes a woman’s primary place is in the home and although it can be proper to work part time to help support the household, the woman’s primary concern should be raising a family.  She doesn’t believe in casual dating, in rebelling against the government, in homosexual rights, in abortion, in decadent music, in disrespecting her elders, in disrespecting the government, or in promiscuity.  She absolutely refuses to have anything to do with people who can’t stand up to her morals although she’ll make an exception and work with them in class if a teacher tells her to.

Her grandparent’s main instructions for her are usually “Act like a lady” and “Be a good example for your little brother...he looks up to you”.  Masumi usually does both without fail.

This is all mostly influenced from her grandparents who both grew up in pro-dictator households and passed their beliefs and morals down to Masumi and her younger brother.

Family:

Grandfather: Hitoshi Okamoto: Was a manager in a department store.  Very strict and formal, expects good things from hid children and grandchildren.  Demands high academic success although he believes a woman’s place is in the home.

Grandmother:  Shizue Okamoto: Did some designing work for a local boutique.  Spends her time now taking care of her grandchildren and the house.  Does some volunteer work because it’s the proper thing for women to do.

Father: Reiji Okamoto: Works in shipping for the same department store her grandfather used to manage.  The job keeps him out of the house about four to five days a week.  Was very in love with his wife and wasn’t sure how to manage the children after her death.  Is content to let his parents raise the children while he works.

Younger Brother: Kazue Okamoto, 8: Has dyslexia and the rest of the family finds the disorder hard to deal with.  The grandparents think he’s just rushing and being a poor student on purpose which is why they keep encouraging Masumi to be a better influence for him to look up to.

Strengths: Organized: Masumi has all of her commitments organized into a planner and has most of her life broken down into hour long periods.  Her room is spotless and she always knows where her possessions are.

Politically Correct: She’s not likely to get in trouble for saying the wrong thing about the government or anyone involved in it.  When she does have a negative opinion, she’ll keep it to herself.

Polite: Whether she likes a person or not, she’s unfailingly polite to them although it comes off as being cold most of the time.

Strong Swimmer: She’s on the swim team at school because her grandparents were adamant that she join a sports club to keep herself in shape.  She’s not the strongest member on the team but isn’t the weakest either.  Her best stroke is the butterfly.

Weaknesses: Judgmental: She has her list of qualities that are just unacceptable in her eyes and refuses to sway from them.  This really limits the people she lets herself be friends with.

Allergies: She’s not the healthiest kid in the world.  She’s allergic to animal dander, chocolate, peanuts, and most shellfish.  She also gets hay fever easily and has asthma although it rarely gets bad enough for her to need her inhaler.

Stressed out: She’s frazzled most of the time.  Too many expectations of her and not enough time to relax.  She’s had a few panic attacks but it doesn’t happen very often, usually only around final exams.

Technologically incompetent: Masumi can type papers and check her email on the computer and that’s about it.  She knows how to call and text on her cell phone and not much else.  She doesn’t know any of the acronyms or references that her classmates would be able to throw around easily.

Extra-Curricular Activities: Swim Team, Flower Arranging

Classroom Behavior: “Masumi is a delight to have in class.  She’s well behaved, always has an answer ready in case she’s called on, and always turns her homework in on time.  Unlike many of her classmates, she hasn’t allowed outside relationships to interfere with her schoolwork.”

Classroom Clique: Rejects/Wannabes/Outcasts/Loners

Memorable Moments:

Here's an important one. Is the NPC capable of killing?: She always plays by the rules and has no reason to go against the government.  I don’t know how well she would play but I’m assuming she would.
