Character Information:

Character Name: Niklaus
Age: At least a thousand years old.
Canon: The Vampire Diaries

Appearance: Depends. Is he currently possessing a person for a nefarious purpose, with the help of a witch? No? Okay. Well then Klaus is a lithely built half-vampire, half-werewolf with short, dirty blond, curly hair and blue eyes. He's usually a bit scruffy and rocks a lot of blue and grey henleys. He has a thing for necklace accessories that make him look like an undead emo surfer. His eyes also turn yellow when he goes all werewolf-vampy, and he has two sets of fangs that elongate when he's getting frisky. He can also shift into a wolf when he feels like it, although this hasn't happened onscreen just yet.

Personality:
If you've ever met a smug, intolerable jackass, it could have been Klaus. Klaus also has every reason to be a smug and intolerable jackass, considering he essentially can't be killed and he's worse than a cat when playing with his prey. And his prey happens to be anyone and everyone, although he does have a few interests and preferences. (For instance, anyone who has ever betrayed him or got in his way, a few certain doppelgängers by the names of Katherine Pierce and Elena Gilbert, and his best friend forever Stefan Salvatore.)

He was the pariah of his long-dead family (he killed them temporarily and he lugs their lifeless bodies around in coffins; he likes to keep his family close and his enemies closer is all) so he's got abandonment and inferiority complexes. Not to mention he has heaps of daddy issues (and mommy issues, okay so he has all the issues). Basically, he has the same mother of his siblings’, but a different werewolf father. As a consequence the father who raised him treated him like a waste of space, always "underestimating" Klaus, as he puts it, and it's a huge reason why Klaus wants to create an army of hybrids: to create a family, to keep the rest he has (most of the time against their will), and to prove himself.

There's not much humanity left in Klaus; what little there is seems to be reserved for family and select friends. That's not to say he doesn't feel or that his feelings can't be hurt, because he does and they do. The latter is probably something better avoided, which is quite apparent to anyone who meets him. He's a bit of a control freak, and he likes to wield his near-invincibility around to always have the upper-hand. Cross him once, and he will not hesitate to draw out his vengeance slowly and painfully. He takes much joy in exacting a full physical and psychological revenge.

But Klaus is not only vicious and and vindictive, he's also refreshingly amused by practically anything and everything, which is a feat at this point in such a long life. It probably helps that he's a bit of a paranoid sociopath and he just says no to most boring and brooding emotions. However, emotion is a vampire's (and a hybrid's, apparently) greatest weakness, and there is a vulnerability about Klaus. As described, he's a bit of a lonely bastard. Like most of the monsters on The Vampire Diaries, there's more to him than just being the Big Bad. Every move he's made, he's made it to feel accepted like he never has felt before, and to have people around him that feel allegiance to him that cannot and will not be broken.

To sum up Klaus in a few handfuls of words: megalomaniac, sociopath, wrathful, lonely, impulsive, temperamental, ambitious, paranoid, cunning, vicious, vindictive.

Background: Klaus's wiki here.

Canon point: During 3.09, “Homecoming,” after Damon attempts to stake him, because large chunks of his background, personality, and motivations were further revealed in that episode.

Special Abilities: Klaus is a hybrid, meaning he can turn into a werewolf at will and eat people. Or he can grow two unique sets of vampire fangs to drink blood. He can compel and control both lesser vampires and humans, so long as they're not wearing or ingesting vervain. He is also weakened by wolfsbane. His bite can also infect and kill other vampires exactly like a bite from a werewolf. His blood is the cure in both cases. He can move faster than a speeding bullet and he has the strength of ten men or maybe two-hundred. Basically he's very fast, very strong, heals quickly, and is immortal. The only object that can kill him is a stake from a special white oak tree which is now ash. Unfortunately one of his abilities isn't making hybrids like himself (at least without the blood of a doppelgänger to complete the process) and he's kind of put out about that.

Sect: Civilian, for now. Choosing a side that's not his seems dishonest.

Job: Wreaking havoc? Creeping on Stefan Salvatore? (Also making an army of hybrids; he's pretty set on that.)

Now, let’s see... [Klaus taps the side of the datapad, leaning over to get his face into the little screen. Before that only an image of his pale chest and a sheet wrapped around his waist was the only thing to behold. Then he smiles, nice and tight-lipped. He looks hostile friendly, doesn't he? And oh good. The little contraption is working.] Anyone care to tell me where I am? [He's not dead, is he? That would be a set-back. How about what very soon-to-be deceased witch had a part in all this? Or where he can find his beloved sister Rebekah?] ...Anyone? ...Bueller, perhaps? [He thinks he's funny.]

Third Person:
Prose log here!

Anything Else: I was slow in extending my reserve earlier because of personal reasons. Sorry about that! Other than that, not a thing to add. :)
